Anna Lee Lightsey, age 97 passed away on Monday, January 22, 2024 in the Pavilion.
Mrs. Lightsey was born October 4, 1926 in Appling County to the late Dave Burke and Lessie Eason Burke.
She was a member of the Baxley First United Methodist Church, having been a part of the Trinity Sunday School Class, Young at Heart, and the United Methodist Women. Mrs. Lightsey was also a member of the Appling Healthcare Auxiliary Pink Ladies, Pine Forest Garden Club and Retired Educators. She was secretary and self-employed owner & operator of Shannon’s Service Center.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Shannon Lightsey, her son-in-law, Mike Murphy, and her seven siblings, Lurenda Fowler, Watson Burke, Juanell Waters, Thelma Oquinn, Velma Boatright, Wendell Burke, and Dennis Burke.
Anna was proud to be a vital part of this community and she touched so many lives in her 97 years. She radiated Godliness and the beauty of life— Anna Lee was simply “a ray of Sunshine!”
She is survived by a daughter, Glenda Murphy of Daphne, AL; grandchildren, Shannon (Sarah) Murphy of Daphne, AL, Laura Murphy (John) Howard of Huntsville, AL and Chase (Jackie) Murphy of Birmingham, AL
Also surviving Mrs. Lightsey are Great-grandchildren, Brock, Will, Drew, Hayes, & Kate Murphy, John Randall and Anna Howard, Penelope Murphy and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
A visitation will be held Sunday, February 4, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the Baxley First United Methodist Church with a Celebration of Life Service following at 3:00 p.m. with Dr. Nita Crump and Rev. Steve Meguiar officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Baxley First United Methodist Church 217 South Main Street, Baxley, GA 31513.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
