Bennett Gray Dixon, Sr., age 86, of Pooler passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at his residence surrounded by his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. His last few days were filled with love, laughter and memories.
Mr. Dixon was born May 21, 1937 in Montgomery County to the late Charlie Woodrow Dixon and the late Mary Bennett Dixon. He was a member of Pooler First Baptist Church and was also a member of Milliken’s Creek Masonic Lodge # 302 F & AM in Cedar Crossing. Mr. Dixon served in the Georgia National Guard and was a retired Woodsman for Union Camp. His biggest joy and achievement was his family. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and he loved baseball.
Bennett was well-loved by all who ever met him. He provided laughter and fun to every occasion. He could pick more cotton than anyone else, and in his humble opinion, no one could outwork him.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Dixon was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Clark and brother, Steve Dixon.
Survivors include his wife, Ann McLoon Dixon of Pooler; daughter, Debra (Del) Ferguson of Stilson; son, Bennett (Sissy) Dixon, Jr. of Richmond Hill; sister, Judy Dixon Carter of Lyons; seven grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren also survive.
