Brenda Sue Rea

Brenda Sue Rea, age 68, of Hazlehurst passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at her residence under the care of Bethany Hospice.

Mrs. Rea was born on February 17, 1955 in Hazlehurst to the late Wadis Shumans and the late Velma Chavis Shumans. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church and was a waitress at Western Steer Steakhouse. Mrs. Rea was preceded in death by her brother, Earl Shumans.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Glynn Rea of Hazlehurst; daughter, Pamela (Hugo) Reyes; sons, David Rea of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Keith (Sandy) Rea of Hazlehurst; sisters, Doris Floyd of Hazlehurst, Loretta Smith of Baxley, and Kathy Johnson of Umatilla, Florida; brothers, Glen Shumans, Earl Shumans and Ricky Shumans all of Hazlehurst. Eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 25, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Union Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Wigley officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to service.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Derrick Shumans, Conner Rea, Tre’ Rea, Tye Rea, Gunner McCarty, and Toby Shumans.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
