Cathy Ann Linebarger

Cathy Ann Newsome Linebarger, age 69, of Hazlehurst, passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Memorial Health in Savannah.

Ms. Linebarger was born on July 12, 1957, in Savannah to Earl Newsome and Mary Kathleen Johnson Newsome. She was a devoted caregiver who lovingly raised her children as well as nieces and nephews, which also led to her caring for elderly family members. She loved life, which was evident in the way she loved those she cared for. She was also a fighter, while overcoming colon cancer in her late thirties. To know her was to love her.

Survivors include her daughter, Tara Linebarger; son, Rodney Linebarger; son-in-law, Jeremy Snell, all of Hazlehurst; granddaughter, Nava Snell; step-sons, Raleigh (April) Mills, and Jonathan (Brooke) Mills; sisters Linda (Jerry) Blanton of Surrency, Carolyn Barlow of Baxley, Mary Josey of Douglas, and Pam Hodges of Baxley; brothers, Wilburn (Peggy) Newsome of Bradenton, FL, Randy (Donna) Newsome of Baxley, Tommy Newsome of Waycross, Andy Newsome, and Ricky Newsome both of Baxley, several nieces and nephews also survive.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2026, at 10:00 am at Swain Funeral Home Hazlehurst Chapel.
