Charles Ray Stipe

Charles Ray Stipe, age 87, of Baxley passed away Friday, April 17, 2026 at Appling Healthcare under the care of Hospice of South Georgia.

Mr. Stipe was born October 2, 1938 in Moorefield, Arkansas to the late Everett Daniel Stipe and the late Maude Elizabeth Morgan Stipe. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and the owner and operator of Altamaha Oil Company until he retired. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and one of the founders and President of the Exchange Club in the 1980s. Charles Ray was a member of the Baxley-Appling Co. Chamber of Commerce and a recipient of the Citizen of the Year Award.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Daniel Stipe, Bill Stipe and Jimmy Stipe.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Rebecca Stipe of Baxley; sons, Gregory (Teresa) Stipe of Baxley and Lorne (Maria) Stipe of Bristol; grandchildren, Dustin Stipe of Alpharetta, GA, Brooks Stipe of Duluth, GA, Dalton (Kaylee) Stipe of Baxley, Weslee (Lilli) Stipe of Bristol, GA, Rayanna (Ethan) Haynes of Bristol, GA; great grandchild, Adalee Grace Stipe of Baxley. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A private graveside service was held Sunday, April 19, 2026 at Omega Cemetery with Rev. Rick Brown officiating.

Active pallbearers were Dustin Stipe, Brooks Stipe, Dalton Stipe, Weslee Stipe, and Ethan Haynes.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
