Claire Elaine (Freeman) Mclendon

Claire McLendon, age 83, of Hazlehurst passed away Monday, June 24, 2024 at her residence under the care of Hospice of South Georgia.

Mrs. McLendon was born July 23, 1940 in Rumford, Maine to the late Roy A. Freeman and the late Verna C. Moore Freeman.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hazlehurst and was a homemaker.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. McLendon was preceded in death by a daughter, Penny McLendon Tillman, and a sister, Nettie Mae Fitzpatrick.

Survivors include her husband, William A. McLendon of Hazlehurst; son, Mark A. (Kim) McLendon of Hazlehurst; sister, Jo-Ann Blanchard of Decatur, TN; brothers, Randall (Marie) Freeman of Rumford, ME; son-in-law, Troy Tillman. Grandchildren Ashley McLendon, Chace McLendon and Tyler Tillman also survive.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, June 27, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Graham Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Brad Waters officiating.

Active pallbearers will be Chace McLendon, Tyler Tillman, Troy Tillman, Ronnie Harrell, Bill Johnston and Hal Cox.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the First Baptist Church of Hazlehurst and Hospice of South Georgia and their special nurses, Caleb, Lynn, Jessie, Lisa and Kristian.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
