Clifton Lamar "Coon" Griffin

Clifton L. “Coon” Griffin, age 71, of Hazlehurst, passed away Monday, June 29, 2026, at his residence under the care of Comfort Hospice.

Mr. Griffin was born January 8, 1955, to the late William Barney Griffin and the late Mancy Lou Carter Griffin Williamson. He worked for Claxton Poultry. Mr. Griffin was known for his quick wit, always laughing and joking. He loved spending time with his grandkids and was an avid fisherman.

Survivors include his daughters, Daphne (Jessie) Blyler of Hilliard, Florida, Tiffany (Jerry) Deen of Hazlehurst, and Michelle Griffin of Alapah; son, Michael (Courtney) Griffin of Uvalda; sister Ruth (Billy) Vaughn of Baxley; brothers Cohen (Rennae) Griffin of Baxley and Bill (Ann) Griffin of Hazlehurst; Fourteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home, Hazlehurst with Rev. Keith Yawn and Rick Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak View Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Josh Griffin, Stetson Deen, Zachary Perry, Ridge Chancey, Dalton Blyler, Thorne Chancey, and Jeremy Carter.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Staff of Comfort Care Hospice, Harriett Gonzolez, Rena Evans, and all in attendance.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Swain Funeral Home.
