Cole Matthew Baucom, age 22, of Hazlehurst passed away Sunday, June 15, 2025 from injuries sustained in an accident.
Cole was born September 28, 2002 in Ocilla, Georgia. He was a member of the Jeff Davis County High School Class of 2021 and the Yellow Jacket Baseball Team. His love for the outdoors lead him to accel in baseball but he also loved golf, hunting, and fishing. After high school, Cole attended Andrew College and was a pitcher for the Fighting Tigers Baseball Team and received his Associate of Science Degree in Education. Cole had a magnetic personality that lit up any room he entered with his humor and love for people. He was a mama’s boy at heart but truly enjoyed spending time with all his family and friends. To know Cole was to love him. He was a sales representative for Down to Earth Trailers and was preceded in death by his father, Kevin Selph; grandparents, Sylvia Selph, Johnny Baucom, Glenn Edwards, Bill Rigdon; and an aunt, Quitta Baucom.
Survivors include his parents, Amanda Baucom and Wayne & Tasha Crosby; sisters, Marley Selph and Anna Kate Crosby; brother, Jace Crosby; grandparents, Jimmy Selph, Ann Baucom, Lourene Edwards and Wilma Rigdon; aunts and uncles, Amy “Meme” (Andy) Edge, Doug (Denise) Baucom, Paul (Kay) Baucom, Johnny Lynn (Ginger) Baucom, Chad Baucom, Leander Selph and Heath Selph; cousins, Sgt. Garrett Baucom, Trey Dykes, Randi Baucom, Colby Baucom; and a special friend, Jenna Miles.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 19, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Derek Jones and Paul Glass officiating. Interment will follow in Hazlehurst City Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Karson Galbreath, Ethan Hulett, Kole Williams, Cade Walters, Garrison Miles, Trenton Clance, Blake Land and Conner Rea.
Honorary pallbearers will be the past & present members of Jeff Davis Yellow Jacket Baseball Team, Jeff Davis County High School Class of 2021 and the 2023 Andrew Fighting Tigers.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 18th from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Baptist Church.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
