Ettie Mae Vaughn, age 84, of Baxley passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at the Pavilion under the care of Comfort Care Hospice.

Mrs. Vaughn was born October 10, 1939 in Jeff Davis County to the late Homer Green Varnadore and the late Daisy Mae McDaniel Varnadore. She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy and was a retired secretary at Holox Welding Supply and a former seamstress at Miller’s Western Wear and Ship-n-Shore. Mrs. Vaughn was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Thurmon Vaughn and husband of 2 months, Artis Vaughn; a sister, Doreatha Wills; and brothers, James Willie “Jay” Varnadore, Lonnie Varnadore, Dolvin Varnadore, and Homer “Pee Wee” Varnadore.

Survivors include her daughters, Cindy (Warren) Stewart and Tammy (Wayne) Canady all of Baxley; sister, Opal Gray of Crete, IL; brother & sister-in-law, Ezra & Marie Varnadore of Baxley; grandchildren, Kandi (Ryan) Taylor, Katelyn (Dalton) Crews, Lucas Canady, Chase Sharpe, Torie (James) Hunter, and C.G. Stewart; great-grandchildren, Eli Miles, Maelee Miles, Fitz Taylor, Jax Hunter, and Palmer Crews; and special sisters-in-law, Betty Sue Boatright, Joyce Stover, Reba McLeod, and Jane Vaughn; and a brother-in-law, Roger Vaughn.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 29, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of God of Prophecy (213 Spruce Street) with Rev. Danny Walker, Rev. Pedro Baltazar, and Dr. Kandiss Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Omega Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Mark Vaughn, Johnny Vaughn, Lucas Canady, Will Varnadore, Reagan Guest, Ricky Varnadore, Dalton Crews and Reggie Varnadore.

Honorary pallbearers will be Cecil Taylor, Freddie McLain, Danny Miller, staff of the Pavilion B Hall, Corey & Inez Lane family, the Artis Vaughn family, and Comfort Care Hospice staff.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
