Gene Herndon

Orville Eugene “Gene” Herndon, age 55, of Baxley passed away Tuesday, August 17, 2021.

Mr. Herndon was born July 11, 1966 in Appling County and was a member of Friendship Congregational Christian Church.  He was an Electronic Technician and served in The United States Air Force.  He was preceded in death by father, Orville Herndon.

Survivors include his son, David Matthew Herndon of Baxley; mother, Betty Herndon of Baxley; and sister, Patricia Herndon of Baxley. Several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews also survive.

A private graveside service will be held at Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Kenny Hutcheson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Gene Herndon Memorial Fund (5082 GA Hwy. 144 Baxley, Georgia 31513).

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
