Gregory Leonard Hyers

Gregory Leonard Hyers, age 59, of Hazlehurst, passed away Monday, September 7, 2026, at Jeff Davis Hospital.

He was born on June 16, 1967, to the late Harold Hyers and the late Eddie Lee Mims Hyers. He was an electrician with Universal Electric and a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lynne Hyers; brother, Jerry Hyers of Alapaha, and a brother-in-law, Jeff Bohannon of Hazlehurst.

Survivors include his sons, Dustin “Duck” (Amanda) Hyers of Hazlehurst and Matt Hyers of Hazlehurst; sisters, Pat Thigpen of Cobbtown; brother, Mike Hyers; sisters-in-law, Sharon (Pat) Nelson of Oklahoma and Lesley (Brett) Sell of Texas; brother-in-law, Steve Bohannon of Hazlehurst; mother-in-law, Faye (Stephen) Crews of Hortense. Three grandchildren, Kyleigh, Emilee and Anslee Hyers and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 10, 2026, at 11:00 am at Philadelphia Baptist Church with Rev. Glenn Bohannon officiating. Interment will follow in Zoar Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Jeremy Hyers, Sam Hyers, Stevie Davis, Shawn Killi, Nathan Hyers and Will Thigpen. Honorary pallbearer will be Robert Edwards.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home Hazlehurst Chapel.
