Herschel Baker Franks

Herschel Baker Franks, age 89, of Rincon, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2026 under the care of Compassus Hospice.

Mr. Franks was born on March 15, 1937 in Washington County to the late Ernest Willie Franks and the late Carrie Mae Price Franks. He retired as an electrician with 42 years of service with Union Camp. He had a love for softball, playing until the age of 71. He also enjoyed gardening, music, cars and spending time with his family. He was a veteran of the Georgia National Guard.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Ernest Franks.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Carolyn Franks; daughter, Theresa (Lee) Reed of Port Wentworth; sister, Carolyn Youmans of Hiram; two grandchildren, Anatasia Nichole Netzinger (James Ferland) and Benjamin (Carolyn) Netzinger; and a great grandchild on the way.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 25, 2026 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home with the Rev. David Deen officiating. Interment will follow in Deen Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Lee Reed, Benjamin Netzinger, Anastasia Nichole Netzinger, Chuck Youmans, Dale Smith, and Danny Smith.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
