Ida Fay Haggins

Ida Fay Haggins, age 80, of St. Mary’s, passed away on Friday, September 4, 2026 at Altamaha Healthcare in Jesup.

Mrs. Haggins was born on May 23, 1946 in Carabell, Florida to the late Bob King and the late Sylvia Carrien King and was a member of Agape Church of St. Mary’s. She was formerly employed shucking oysters in East Point, Florida and later a 911 Dispatcher for Franklin County EMA. She passionately ran a food pantry out of her home to make sure everyone had adequate food. Mrs. Haggins was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Haggins.

Survivors included her daughters, Mildred Velazquez of Baxley, Maria Watson of Crawfordville, FL, Debrah Velazquez of Jesup, and Angie Burdett of Patrick, South Carolina; fourteen grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
