James Luther Simmons, 94, peacefully passed away at home on May 28, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born February 24, 1929, to Chester and Neltie Simmons in Baxley, GA. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and also enjoyed being a welder.
Mr. Simmons was a devoted father, brother and grandfather. He is survived by his four loving children, James “Jimmy” Simmons, Denise Null, Darlene DeZafra, and Betsy (Eric) Berg; three loving sisters, Ollie Mae Simmons Jackson, Alene Simmons Thomas, Veronis Simmons Andrews, and 10 grandchildren, Joe Skipper, Lisa (Brett) Blackburn, Dennis Simmons, Chris Simmons, Rachel (Kris) Welker, Elizabeth (Robert) Muller, Carolyn (Devon) Knowles, Jackie (Corey) Rittenhouse, William (Jennifer) Kuepfer, Shelly (Whit) Stubblefield and 18 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 18, 2023 at his home in Bradenton, Florida.
