Jerry D. Turner

Jerry D. Turner, age 75, of Baxley passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at Memorial Health Meadows under the care of Community Hospice in Vidalia.

Mr. Turner was born June 16, 1948 in Bacon County to the late D. E. “Jack” Turner and the late Helen Laverne Whitley Jackson. He was a member of Midway Baptist Church and a retired truck driver. Mr. Turner was veteran of the United States Marines, having served in Vietnam. He was a decorated Marine and was the recipient of the Purple Heart. Mr. Turner was preceded in death by a sister, Diane Mundorff; and brothers, Larry Turner and Ronnie Turner.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Dean Turner of Baxley; daughter, Felicia (Carroll) Disharoon of Baxley; son, Kenneth Floyd of Baxley; brother, Terry Turner of Hartford, AL; step mother, Calista Turner of Dorhan, AL; three grandchildren, Brad Disharoon, Dustin Disharoon and Shane Disharoon; ten great grandchildren, Aubrey, Shaw, Jerri-Ann, Austin, Jacee, Karalyne, Colton, Clayton, Cammi, and Tucker. Several nieces, nephews and special family loved ones, Jade Carter & Michelle Cauley, also survive.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home with Rev. Benji McReady and Rev. Ron Ross officiating.

Interment will follow in Appling Memorial Gardens.

Active pallbearers will be Dustin Disharoon, Brad Disharoon, Shane Disharoon, Robert Todd, Camron Spell, Dexter Whitley, Colton Disharoon, Clayton Disharoon and Austin Disharoon.

Visitation will be Friday evening, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., at Swain Funeral Home.
