Joanne Lloyd Benjamin

Joanne Lloyd Benjamin, age 81, of Portsmouth, VA died Friday, July 23, 2021 at her residence.

Mrs. Benjamin was born March 4, 1940 and was a native of Axson, Georgia. She was retired from Virginia Department of Transportation. Mrs. Benjamin was preceded in death by her mother, Estelle Davis Wilson and her brother, Hubert L. Lloyd.

Survivors include her husband, Garnet Benjamin of Portsmouth, VA; daughter, Deborah Ambot of Frederick, MD; sons & daughter-in-law, Carl & Stacey Cogar of Ashburn, VA and Timothy Cogar of Portsmouth, VA; sisters, Karen O’Quinn of Hollister, FL and Lori Lloyd of Interlochen, FL; and brother, Gary Lloyd of Deatsville, AL. Eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren also survive.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, July 31, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Meeks Cemetery in Nicholls, Georgia with Rev. Rick Brown officiating.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
