John Homer Ware, age 88, of Baxley passed away Thursday, August 5, 2021 at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah.
Mr. Ware was born July 20, 1933 in Surrency to the late Peter Guy Ware and the late Nettie Marie Kennedy Ware. He graduated from Surrency High School in 1950. Before retirement, he was a conductor on the railroad for Norfolk Southern. Mr. Ware was also a veteran of the United States Army serving during Peacetime as a Private First Class. He was an Emeritus member of the Holmesville Masonic Lodge No.195 for 65 years, he served as assistant local chairman of the UTU Lodge No. 1245, and was a member of Ten Mile Creek Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Ware was preceded in death by his sister, Catherene Ware Mills; brothers, Lester Ware, Warren Ware, Robert Ware, Hiram Ware, Harry Ware, and Paul Ware; and his daughter-in-law, Teresa Taylor Ware.
Survivors include his wife, Annette Miles Ware; daughter and son-in-law, Melanie & Terry Howard; son and daughter-in-law, Kevin & Kimberly Ware, all of Baxley; four grandchildren, Courtney Ware (Tyler) Boatright, Morgan Ware (Thomas) Davis, Trent Michael Ware, and Jacob “Jake” Edward Howard; and six great grandchildren, Annaleigh Davis, Aubrianna Davis, Trace Davis, John Maverick Davis, Olivia Boatright, and Jace Boatright.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 8, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at Ten Mile Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Brown and Rev. David Barber officiating.
A private family committal service will follow in the Dean Section of the Ten Mile Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Lamar Miles, Warren Mills, Kelly Bryant, Thomas Ware, Samuel Ware, and Michael Ware.
Remembrances may be made to Ten Mile Creek Baptist Church (3785 Ten Mile Road Baxley, GA 31513).
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Due to Covid-19, all attendees are asked to please follow the rules of social distancing and face masks are recommended at the service. Also, anyone that does not feel comfortable with attending the service, the family would like you to know they understand and covet your prayers.
