Larry Bass

Larry Bass, age 82, of Baxley passed away Saturday, May 9, 2026 at Appling Healthcare under the care of Hospice of South Georgia.

Larry was born March 18, 1944 in Appling County. He and his family have been a part of Spring Branch Community since 1984, where he was also a member of Spring Branch Baptist Church. As a Certified Master Electrician and owner of TCL Electric, he took great pride in his work and in teaching others the trade – skills that will continue to be passed down for generations.

Above all, Larry deeply loved his family and worked hard to give them a better life. He instilled in his children the importance of respect and treating others with kindness. He values his friends and neighbors, considering each one a true blessing.

Larry lived life to the fullest and was always ready to head out on a fishing trip. He was well known for being an avid CASE Knife collector. He took pride in every piece he collected or received from his loved ones. It gave him much joy showing his collection to anyone who gave him the opportunity.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Stephen Clinton Bass and Bertie Maybell Ryals Bass; sisters, Sarah Nell Herndon and Betty Faye Jackson, and brothers, James Ernest Bass, Stephen Clinton Bass, and Jacob Edward Bass.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Glenda Rentz Bass; daughters, Misty (Richard) Taylor and Melanie (Timmy) Gardner; sons, Jeffery (Cindy) Bass and Clint (Regena) Bass; sisters, Thelma Rentz and Ann Patterson; twelve grandchildren; and fourteen great grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home with Rev. John Rentz, Rev. Rick Brown, and Rev. Justin McLellan officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.
