Lawton Dave Yawn, age 82, of Baxley passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at Memorial Health Meadows in Vidalia under the care of Community Hospice.
Mr. Yawn was born January 4, 1942 in Appling County to the late Cleaton Yawn and the late Mamie Burke Yawn. He was retired from Southern Company at Plant Hatch and was an electrical foreman. Mr. Yawn was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church and was a Mason. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Nellie Courson Yawn; sisters, Joyce (Wendell) Davis and Wilma (Robert) Fletcher; and a brother, Thomas Yawn.
Survivors include his daughter, Tina (Steven) Lord of Tennille; sons, David (Christina) Yawn of Baxley and Sammy (Kathy) Yawn of Beverly Hills, FL; sister-in-law, Virginia Yawn of Panama City, FL; nine grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild also survives.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, June 29, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Hopewell United Methodist Church Cemetery with Elder Jerry Lightsey officiating.
Active pallbearers will be Josh Yawn, Cory Dyal, Jarrod Yawn, Caleb Dyal, and Chip Lord.
Honorary pallbearers will be Timmy Poole, Scott Turner, Willard Lightsey, Ricky Nanney, Frank Gorley, Richard Featherston, Bobby Matthews, and Kenneth Holloway.
