Mary Jeanine Boatright Lamb passed away on July 29, 2025.
Jeanine was a long-time Savannah resident and was a native of Alma, Bacon County, Georgia. She was born on April 23, 1937, to the late Quitman and the late Margurite Padgett Boatright. Jeanine married James Delbert (Del) Lamb in 1954 and they shared 71 years together as a loving devoted couple. Jeanine grew up and attended school in Alma, eventually graduating from Bacon County High School with honors. She was a cheerleader and dancer and was the Miss Bacon County High School talent queen in 1954. Jeanine was an avid dancer and pianist and taught both dancing and piano in Savannah in the late 1960s and early 1970s. She went on to focus mainly on piano and taught hundreds of students over a period of 30 years in Savannah and Livonia, Michigan. She loved music and teaching so much that even in her 80’s, she had a handful of students that she taught piano in her last years in life. While Jeanine’s first love was piano, she tapped into her earlier tap-dancing roots when she decided to try clogging in her 50’s. She tried out for clogging groups in Savannah and Michigan and found that, like piano, she loved it. She and Del spent many fun-filled years traveling, performing, and teaching with different clogging groups both in Michigan and Savannah. Jeanine was devoted to her faith and church and attended Calvary Baptist Temple, Windsor Forest Baptist Church, and White Bluff Alliance Church in Savannah over the years and also Covenant Community Church in Redford, Michigan. Jeanine served many years singing in the choir and as a church pianist. In 1998-2000, Jeanine participated in the Ms. Senior Savannah competitions where she was crowned Most Talented for her singing and dancing routine in 1999. She was also an active member of the Exchange Club of Savannah serving as club pianist and working many hours collecting tickets at the Exchange Club fair. Jeanine was a loving, caring, and devoted wife and mom.
She is survived by her husband, Del Lamb; her daughter, Donna Tucker and husband, Edward of Baxley; and her son, Tim Lamb and wife, Tracey of Kure Beach, North Carolina; her sister, Joan Herrington and husband, GC of Hazlehurst; her sister, Pam Baldwin and husband, James of Alma; and sister-in-law, Judy Boatright of Alma; 7 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that will miss her tender spirit. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Danny Boatright of Alma.
