Mildred Joan Hand

Mildred Joan Hand, age 86, of Hazlehurst, passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.

Ms. Hand was born on April 4, 1940, in Manchester, Georgia to the late John Walter Phillips and the late Nora Marie Bowen Phillips. She was a dedicated homemaker who found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially working in her yard and cooking delicious meals for her family. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two sons, Mike Hand and Bobby Hand.

She is survived by her daughter, Cathy Parlor (Brian Newberry) of Brunswick; son, Jerry (Carolee) Hand of Hazlehurst. Five grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren also survive.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home in Hazlehurst with Rev. Johnny Fulghum, Sr. and Rev. Tyrone Hutchinson officiating. Interment will follow at the Bridgeford Church of God Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Landen Parlor, Joshua Parlor, Kevin Hand, Matthew Daniels, Robert Highsmith, and Johnny Fulgrum, Jr.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home Hazlehurst.
