Pattie Lee McLeod

Pattie Lee McLeod, age 72, of Hazlehurst, passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at her residence.

Ms. McLeod was born on April 21, 1954, in Valdosta to the late Lester Lee Post and the late Dorothy Elise Hand Post. She was an educator of 30 years, retiring from the Jeff Davis County Board of Education, and a member of Bible Baptist Church. She devoted her life to teaching children, whether in Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, or the classroom. She established and operated the Emmanuel Academy to assure that her grandchildren and others would have an opportunity for a Christian education. Ms. McLeod was also a sign language interpreter and learned the Spanish language to help her better educate her beloved students.

Survivors include her daughter, Jodie (Darrell) Creamer of Hazlehurst; son, Jason (Lyndsey) Carter of Hazlehurst; sister, Sabrina (Robert) Miller of Hazlehurst; brother, Lester (Caroline) Post of St. Simons; grandchildren, Reanna Mabey, Rylie Brooke Creamer, Tucker Creamer, and Elizabeth Carter; great grandchildren, Vanessa Mabey and Cash Mabey; many nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 7, 2026, at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home, Hazlehurst with Rev. Brian Brazzell officiating. Interment will follow in Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Darrell Creamer, Tucker Creamer, M. J. Mabey, Micah Harris, and Jason Carter.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service.
