Thomas Henry Wooten

Thomas Henry Wooten, age 87, of Hazlehurst, passed away Monday, September 21, 2026, at Community Hospice in Vidalia.

Mr. Wooten was born in Jeff Davis County on November 18, 1938, to the late Glenn Wooten and the late Evelyn Joyce Wooten. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, deep family devotion, and an unshakable love for the great outdoors. A lifelong farmer and land developer, Mr. Wooten was a man who truly loved working. He viewed the land not just as his profession, but as a calling. Whether he was turning soil on the farm or shaping communities through his development projects, he found immense satisfaction in a hard day’s labor and built a reputation grounded in integrity and vision. While his work kept him grounded, his heart often wandered north. He was an avid outdoorsman whose greatest adventures took place in Alaska. He cherished his time spent hunting and fishing in the rugged Alaskan wilderness, finding peace and thrill in nature’s wildest corners. Above all his accomplishments, he loved his family fiercely. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, always putting the needs of his loved ones first and teaching them the value of dedication, patience and love for life.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Donald Wooten and Ray Wooten; and grandson, Aaron Lott.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Dorothy Davis Wooten; daughters, Robbie (Keith) Rentz and Traci (Eric) Wooten; sister, Winona Wooten Hartung; brother, Olin Wooten; grandchildren, Shelly (Brent) McBride, Lexie (Skyler) Clark, and Peyton Bush; great-grandchildren, Truitt McBride and Turk McBride also survive.

A private graveside service was held Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at 10:00 am at Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Brad Waters officiating.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the direction of Swain Funeral Home Hazlehurst Chapel.
