Virgina Herndon Roach, age 73, of Odum passed away Thursday, February 8, 2024 in Jacksonville, Florida.
Mrs. Roach was born February 11,1950 in Appling County to the late Horace Herndon and the late Dovie Lou Herrington Herndon. She was a selfless and extremely humble lady. She loved to cook, garden and work all around in her yards. Virgina was a devout Christian lady who loved the Lord and attending Carter’s Chapel Church of God of Prophecy. She was preceded in death by her uncle and aunt who raised her, Delvis & Pauline Lightsey, and a brother, Herman Herndon.
Survivors include her loving husband of 54 years, Ernest Roach of Odum; daughters, Rena (Bruce) Yawn of Bristol, Mandy Wacker (Gary Overstreet) of Odum; sisters, Carolyn (Edward) Fales of Jesup, Catherine (Sammy) Hutto of Jesup, Sandra Nail of Odum; brothers, Harvey (Lawanda) Herndon of Baxley. Three grandchildren, Summer Yawn of Bristol, Caroline Wacker of Dunwoody, and Reagan Yawn of Bristol also survive.
Funeral services will be held Monday, February 12, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home with Rev. Andrew Kersey and Rev. Sammy Hutto officiating. Interment will follow in Surrency City Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Michael Hutto, Matthew Hutto, Dusty Herndon, Greg Fales, Vince Fales, and James Roach.
The visitation will be held one hour prior to the time of service.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
