William Wendell Carter, age 78, of Baxley passed away Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Community Hospice in Vidalia.
Mr. Carter was born October 8, 1942 in Baxley to the late William Henry Carter and the late Dimple Bennett Carter. Before retiring, he was a mechanic at Plant Hatch. Mr. Carter was a veteran of the United States Army National Guard and was a member of Friendship Congregational Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Peacock Carter of Baxley; daughter and son-in-law, Janet & Jack Patton of Baxley; sisters and brother-in-law, Joyce & Pat Williams of Baxley and Betty Horne of Baxley; brothers and sister-in-law, Darrell & Wanda Carter of Surrency and Everett Carter of Baxley; two grandchildren, Hope (Kyle) Pittman of Lyons and Gage Patton of Baxley; two great grandchildren, Greer Pittman and Granger Pittman both of Lyons; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Friendship Congregational Christian Church with Rev. Barry Teutsch and Rev. Bryant Bishop officiating.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
